WASHINGTON—The Senate confirmed Jay Shambaugh to be the Treasury Department’s undersecretary for international affairs, filling one of the Biden administration’s top economic diplomatic posts during a time of global economic slowdown and conflict.
Mr. Shambaugh, a former aide in the Obama White House and an economics professor at George Washington University, has recently been serving as a counselor to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen on international issues. Andy Baukol, a career staffer, has been serving as the acting undersecretary of international affairs.
