The City is keeping a close eye out for any signals that the Bank of England may move to increase interest rates next month, after UK inflation rose to 4.2% in October — its highest level in 10 years.
Results from the keenly watched purchasing managers' index for November showed buoyant business growth, job market gains and record inflationary pressures — conditions which some economists say give the BoE the green light to hike rates in December.
