British Prime Minister Boris Johnson urged the UK public to get the COVID-19 booster vaccine in his Christmas Eve address on Friday, as the country deals with a record surge in cases driven by the Omicron variant.
Johnson said that while little time remained to buy gifts, "there is still a wonderful thing you can give your family and the whole country, and that is to get that jab, whether it is your first or second, or your booster".
The Prime Minister has rejected harsher virus restrictions in England over Christmas despite the UK setting a new record on Thursday of almost 120,000 cases in 24 hours.
He has focused instead on a drive to offer booster jabs to all adults by the end of the year.
