The labor market is cooling. That isn’t to say it isn’t hot.
The Labor Department on Friday reported that the U.S. economy added 261,000 jobs in October, down from September’s (upwardly revised) gain of 315,000, but better than the 205,000 economists expected. The average monthly job gain over the past three months was 289,000, which compared with an average gain of 405,000 jobs over the prior three-month period.
