An LGBTQI+ march in Oslo scheduled for Saturday has been cancelled after late-night shootings hit the Norwegian capital.
Police requested event organisers to call off the event, following the targetting of two bars, including one gay club, Friday evening.
After "clear advice and recommendations from the police", "all events related to Oslo Pride are cancelled," the organisers wrote in a Facebook post, imploring "anyone who had planned to participate in or watch the parade, not to show up."
Norwegian police said they were treating last night's shootings, which took place in front of two bars in the centre of Oslo, as "a terrorist act".
Two people were left dead and at least 21 more have been injured, including 10 seriously.
"The police are investigating the facts as an act of terrorism," the police said in a statement.
One suspect has been arrested after the shooting, which occurred outside the bars at around 1:00 a.m. local time (23:00 GMT).
The alleged perpetrator is a Norwegian of Iranian origin, police said Saturday.
The suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, was known to Norway's intelligence services, Oslo police official Christain Hatlo said at a press conference.
Police had dealt with the suspect in the past for minor acts, such as carrying a knife, alongside a conviction for possessing narcotics.
"We will follow the police’s recommendation and take care of each other," said Inger Kristin Haugsevje, leader of Oslo Pride. "We are sending warm thoughts and love to next of kin, those who were wounded, and others affected."
"We will soon be proud and visible again, but today, we will share our Pride celebrations from home," she added.
