Thamarassery: It has been decided in the Lok Adalat that the contractor and insurance company should pay compensation of Rs 7 lakh to a bike rider who fell into a pothole on Thamarassery road and sustained injuries to his Femur bone.

Abdul Razzaq (56), hailing from Ekarool in Kozhikode, will be given compensation by the contractor Sree Dhanya Constructions and United India Insurance Company within ten days.

Sree Dhanya Constructions has to pay Rs 6 lakh and United India Insurance Company has to pay Rs 1 lakh. An agreement was reached in the Adalat regarding the compensation amount on Friday following a complaint lodged by Abdul Razzaq.

On January 5, Abdul Razzaq fell into a pit created for building a culvert in the area. However, no warning signs were placed around the pit, and only a ribbon was used to seal off the area.

However, PWD said there was no failure on the part of the contractors or officials in this regard. However, Minister PA Mohammed Riyas dismissed the findings in the report and directed the KSTP project director to launch an investigation and submit a report.
